But the budget of 2021-22 has brought new hopes in the health care sector, reaching Rs 2,23,846 crore and with the introduction of PM Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana.

On February 1, 2021, Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the General Budget of the country. The health sector’s Budget increased to 2.38 crore, and they also introduced the new scheme, with a budget of 64180 crores.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman this year announced the new government scheme. Under this scheme, the health sector has been divided into three parts such as rescue, treatment, and research. The government, on the whole, will spend on the health care services varying from primary to higher-level health care.

Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Health Yojana 2021 is the scheme launched by the government to assist in improving and modernizing the capacities of the health care sector. Under the scheme, the government will also establish integrated public health laboratories in every district of the country. With this, the government has also decided to make provisions of Rs.35400 crores for the vaccination program of COVID-19.

Under this scheme, critical care blocks in 602 districts and 12 central institutions will be established. The main aim of the scheme is to improve the primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare systems.

The new scheme that the central government has launched plans to assist and improve the country’s health care sector. Under this scheme, the government will develop the health care laboratories in each district. With this, the government will also establish 17 new public health units. Other than this, the government also plans to install 15 emergency operation centres and two mobile hospitals. The government will also assist, National Centre for Disease control. The government will also launch a portal for the country’s citizens so that services can reach them easily.

NCDC operates in three segments, which are a rescue, treatment, and research. Keeping in mind the work done by NCDC, the government has decided to support its five regional branches and 20 MHSU.
